US Soccer... As flimsly as Dempsey's leg right now

Football - Blackburn Rovers v Fulham Barclays Premier League

Well it was a fun run while it lasted...

After beating the No. 1 Spaniards and finishing within 45 minutes of beating the heralded Brazil team, it looked as though US Soccer was on a one-way path towards relevancy. All that was left was for the team to show up during the World Cup in South Africa next June and make their case to the world.

How everything changes in six months.

H8 CR8N? Prove it...

West Virginia Mountaineers v Southern Illinois Salukis

Whatever your opinions on head coach Chris Lowery are, he is as right as a triangle on one thing.

When it comes to SIU v. Creighton, nothing else matters.

Finally: The Mark McGwire Saga

Sports Illustrated 2005 Swimsuit Issue Event

This space was reserved to handle the fallout of the Packers' season on Sunday, but the "not really" stunning statement from current STL Cardinals hitting coach Mark McGwire's steroid use has changed plans.

This is the Cardinals' lives on Holliday

St. Louis Cardinals Matt Holliday

It's been 48 hours, but the St. Louis Cardinals signing of outfielder Matt Holliday is still rattling like a earthquake tremor throughout Cardinal nation. The former batting champ will make the Lou his home for the foreseeable future, accepting a seven-year, $120 million dollar contract -- the largest in Cardinals history.

Any player who is pocketing $17 million a season had better be damn worth it, but is Holliday?

The League's Promise to you

Perhaps starting up a new venture was not the smartest idea while one is on vacation. Luckily for the readers, it is 40 degrees and raining, so this blogger can concentrate on starting up what will go down in history as the 37th greatest blog of all-time (Give or take four spots).

Before the self-indulgence begins, your editor would like to promise you, the reader, what one can expect when they read and (hopefully) comment.

The (somewhat) unmessy birth of a new sports blog

Berlin Welcomes 2010

Welcome to my second attempt to start up a blog, this time... it's personal.

Not really, but the time has come to get back into the writing game, especially with a focus on a few of my favorite topics: Sports, pop culture and Tiger Woods' kinky personal life.

But I digress, here at the LXB, you'll get the best possible coverage of the St. Louis Cardinals, Green Bay Packers, Saluki sports, U.S. Soccer, some Premiere League and whatever else crosses my mind. So if any of that interests you, then congratulations -- you found a spot to settle down and read some interesting articles. Bon Appetit!
